Willie Nelson was compelled to cancel a scheduled performance on the 2025 Outlaw Music Festival tour after a severe storm caused significant damage to touring gear and musical instruments.
The 92-year-old country legend was set to headline the event alongside Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, and others as part of the festival’s 10th anniversary celebration. The show was originally planned for July 1 at the Lucky Star Amphitheater in El Reno, Oklahoma.
Local news outlet KFOR reported that strong thunderstorms swept through the southern region late Monday afternoon, bringing heavy rainfall, flooding, poor visibility, and property damage to nearby homes.
Festival organizers said in a statement that “an extreme weather event” struck on the evening of June 29 at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, Missouri, bringing intense rain and strong winds that forced an evacuation of the crowd.
Due to the severe weather, organizers reported that many instruments and pieces of equipment were soaked and damaged, making it impossible to assess their condition in time for the following night’s performance. As a result, the show scheduled for that evening was officially canceled to give the team time to repair or replace affected gear and ensure the rest of the tour can continue smoothly.
In a joint statement, Blackbird Presents, Lucky Star Amphitheater, and DCF Concerts expressed regret over the cancellation, apologizing for the inconvenience it may cause.
Ticketholders will receive full refunds from their original point of purchase, with organizers advising fans to allow 7–10 business days for the funds to reflect on their statements.
