A shirtless photo of the former lacrosse player turned country music artist caught the attention of the talk show host in October.
Some artists wait their whole careers for a chance to collaborate with Kelly Clarkson — and country singer Warren Zeiders is eager for that moment to come.
“A big thing for me is to never miss out on an opportunity,” Zeiders, 25, told PEOPLE. “If she would be interested, it could be something really cool. I’d definitely consider doing a duet with her — with her powerhouse vocals, I think we could create something special together.”
Zeiders, who transitioned from lacrosse athlete to country music star, shared his thoughts on collaborating with Clarkson, 42, after his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show in October, where a clip from their interview went viral.
During the segment, Zeiders’ team unexpectedly displayed a shirtless photo of him playing lacrosse on the big screen, leaving Clarkson flustered.
“Oh s—,” Clarkson reacted to the photo, while Zeiders jokingly said, “I might have to take the jacket off.”
Clarkson responded, “I need to be prepared for that. Well, that’s nice.”
Zeiders admitted that he was nervous before his interview with Clarkson.
“I was definitely nervous going out there because TV is so different,” he told PEOPLE. “TV is very, hurry up and wait, and then it’s go, go, go.”
“I love being under pressure,” he continued. “I got out there and had a chance to meet her, and she did a great job leading me through the interview, and it was awesome.”
Although it was Zeiders’ first interview with Clarkson, it wasn’t his first time appearing on the show. In 2022, he performed a taped version of his song “Ride the Lightning.”
After the interview, some social media users took note of the chemistry between the two singers. One person on Instagram commented, “Was there chemistry or was that just me?”
Zeiders acknowledged that the reactions have not gone unnoticed.
“I am a person who believes in paying close attention to what my fans are saying,” said Zeiders, the 2024 CMT Music Awards winner for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year. “It was pretty exciting to see the responses about the chemistry and how well the interview flowed.”
Zeiders recently wrapped up performing on Jelly Roll’s 39-show The Beautifully Broken Tour. After a few months off, he will head to Europe in January to kick off his Relapse Tour, returning to the U.S. in March to complete the tour.
