Joe Bonsall, a member of the Oak Ridge Boys, passed away on July 9 at the age of 76 due to complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Following Bonsall’s passing on July 9 due to complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), McEntire described him as a terrific entertainer, singer, and a cherished friend. She expressed her sadness at missing his smiling face and bubbly demeanor, adding, “I can’t wait to see you again. Love, Reba.”
In accordance with Bonsall’s wishes, there will not be a funeral, but donations can be made to The ALS Association or the Vanderbilt Medical Center ALS and Neuroscience Research Center.

In January, Joe Bonsall announced his retirement from touring with The Oak Ridge Boys due to health reasons related to a neuromuscular disorder he had been battling for over four years. He explained that the condition had progressed to the point where walking was no longer possible, making it too challenging to continue touring. Bonsall expressed gratitude to everyone involved with The Oak Ridge Boys for their unwavering love and support throughout his 50-year career. He also thanked those who had kept him in their prayers and requested continued support.
Despite Bonsall’s retirement, The Oak Ridge Boys announced a celebratory farewell tour in September to mark their 50th anniversary.
