Morgan Wallen provided a young fan with a memorable VIP experience during his concert at FedEx Field near Washington, D.C. on Saturday night, September 2nd.
According to Music Mayhem, the 9-year-old girl named Kenley had longed to attend one of Wallen’s live shows, especially after being diagnosed with stage 2 kidney cancer late the previous year. Following surgery to remove her left kidney and 13 lymph nodes, Kenley began weekly chemotherapy treatments. During the hour-and-a-half drive to the hospital with her mom, Kristin, Kenley would play a constant stream of Morgan Wallen songs as the DJ.
After successfully completing a six-month course of chemotherapy in July, Kristin surprised Kenley with tickets to attend a stop on Wallen’s “One Night at a Time Tour.” But the surprises didn’t end there. With the help of a family friend, the family managed to connect with Wallen himself, granting Kenley the opportunity to go backstage and meet her musical idol in person. This unexpected experience left Kenley in a state of “total shock.”
During their meeting, Wallen engaged in conversations with Kenley about football, Nashville, and his show. He took his time, ensuring that the experience was not rushed, and happily signed various items and posed for photos as per Kenley’s request. Wallen also asked Kenley a few questions, making her night truly special.
Kenley was treated like royalty throughout the backstage tour, with access to various amenities and souvenirs. Her mother proudly shared, “She kept telling me it was her best day ever.”
Among the items that Wallen signed for Kenley was a pink poster that she had brought to the show. The poster read, “Thought you should know I finished chemo 2b ‘Chasing You’! #KenleyStrong.” Kenley held up the sign from her VIP location during the concert, and her image with the sign appeared on the jumbotron, prompting the audience to cheer in support of her.
Kristin, Kenley’s mother, took to Instagram to share a series of photos from their backstage encounter with Morgan Wallen. The snapshots included images of Kenley posing with Wallen and a close-up of her show attire, which consisted of a Wallen T-shirt and a pink-and-white cowboy hat autographed by the singer.
In her caption, Kristin expressed that these moments had created “core memories” for their family, emphasizing the profound impact of the experience.
Kenley presented Wallen with a personalized pink #KenleyStrong bracelet, which he proudly wore during the entire performance. This heartfelt gesture deeply touched the family and added to the magic of their memorable encounter with the country music star, as recounted by Kristin.
