Lambert posted a selfie video featuring herself and her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, at the beginning of the game. The couple clinked glasses, and Lambert proudly displayed her Chiefs loyalty by donning a Patrick Mahomes No. 15 jersey and a red bandana. While McLoughlin wasn’t wearing official team merchandise, he showed his support for the Chiefs with a cheerful smile as they watched the game on television in the background.
In the video’s caption, Lambert expressed her enthusiasm with a “Let’s go [Chiefs]” and gave a special shoutout to Patrick Mahomes, using the hashtag “#mahomie” to show her support for the quarterback.
Miranda Lambert’s loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs extends far beyond the recent attention brought by Taylor Swift’s connection to the team’s starting tight end, Travis Kelce, whom she has been dating this summer. Although Swift has attended four of the Chiefs’ games, Lambert’s fandom predates Kelce’s relationship with Swift by a significant margin.
Miranda Lambert hails from Lindale, Texas, which is only 20 minutes away from Patrick Mahomes’ hometown of Tyler, Texas. She has actively supported her fellow East Texan and the Chiefs for several football seasons, with social media photos of her sporting Chiefs gear to back them up.
Unfortunately, the Chiefs didn’t have a successful outing in Sunday’s game, losing 24-9 to the Broncos, partly due to Mahomes battling a flu-like illness during the match. Interestingly, some superstitious fans had already developed a theory that Swift’s presence at the games was a good luck charm, as the team won all four games she attended. Additionally, the last time Swift didn’t attend a game, Travis Kelce suffered an ankle injury, adding to the perceived significance of her attendance.
