Luke Combs has released a brand-new three-song EP titled The Prequel, giving fans an early taste of what’s to come from his next full-length album, expected to arrive early next year.

Co-produced by Combs and Chip Matthews, The Prequel includes “My Kinda Saturday Night,” “15 Minutes,” and “Days Like These,” each showcasing a different side of the North Carolina native’s sound and storytelling.

The upbeat “My Kinda Saturday Night” serves as a feel-good, rowdy anthem, while “15 Minutes” dives deep into a tale of regret and redemption from the perspective of someone behind bars. Meanwhile, “Days Like These” offers a heartfelt reflection on appreciating life’s fleeting moments — a reminder to slow down and treasure the simple things.

As his first new project since 2024’s Fathers & Sons, Combs admitted he was both thrilled and anxious to share the new material. “Gosh, it’s crazy. I just feel like it’s the first time I’ve put music out in quite some time, and I’m nervous about it,” he said in an Instagram video to fans. “I’m nervous to see what you guys will think about it.”

Despite those nerves, Combs said he feels confident in the songs and grateful for the continued support from fans, whose comments have already flooded social media with excitement.

He also opened up about the challenges of balancing his music career with fatherhood and family life. “I know you guys have been waiting for music for a long time,” he said. “I’ve just been doing as much as I can, raising the kids. You can see these gray hairs, man — they’re coming in! It’s just wild. Time flies, and it feels like I’ve been doing this forever and for six months at the same time.”

Even with the chaos of parenthood and touring, Combs said he’s energized about what’s next. “I just want you guys to know that I do have some new songs out today. I’m super, super excited about them — and about the rest of what’s coming.”
