Luke Bryan Struck in the Face During Concert But Carries On Like a Pro
Luke Bryan was in the middle of performing one of his biggest hits when an unexpected incident occurred during his show in North Dakota.
A fan-captured TikTok video from Bryan’s concert on Saturday, July 26, at the North Dakota State Fair shows the country star being hit in the face by an object—reportedly a small plush ball—while performing the chorus of his 2011 hit “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”
Bryan, 49, reacted with brief confusion after being struck, pausing to glance into the crowd, but quickly regained his composure and completed the song without issue.
The fan who shared the video captioned it, “Poor @Luke Bryan got hit in the face during his encore 😅 carried on like a champ though.”
Fans quickly voiced their disapproval in the comments. One wrote, “There’s no excuse for this,” while another added, “Shame on whoever did this.” A third questioned, “Why throw something at the person you came to see perform?” Others praised Bryan’s professionalism, with one saying, “Luke Bryan got hit but kept on rockin’ — much respect.”
Bryan, no stranger to mishaps on stage, has previously poked fun at himself for being clumsy. During a May 2024 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he and the host laughed over a montage of his stage falls.
Blaming one spill on water on stage, Bryan addressed frequent fan speculation that he performs drunk. “People always assume I’ve been drinking, just because of the lyrics in my songs,” he said, clarifying that he’s not intoxicated during shows. “I’m 6’2″, trying to pull off Michael Jackson moves in cowboy boots on a wet stage — it’s not easy.”
He emphasized, “You can’t just drink a bottle of vodka and go do a two-hour concert. It’s not alcohol, fans.”
Bryan explained that his energetic stage presence sometimes leads to falls. “I’ve been lucky to avoid injury so far, but who knows when it’ll happen again. I had a streak of falls in North Carolina, and people thought I was drinking moonshine — but I wasn’t.”
Unfortunately, Bryan joins a growing list of artists who’ve had objects thrown at them during performances. Kelsea Ballerini was hit in the eye with a bracelet during a 2023 concert in Idaho, while Morgan Wallen had a thong tossed at him during a show in Minneapolis in June 2024.
