Lainey Wilson, who received invaluable advice as she rose in country music, is now passing that wisdom on to her friends Megan Moroney and Ella Langley.
In a conversation with iHeartCountry, Wilson explained her commitment to sharing the guidance she’s received from country legends with up-and-coming female artists. “I try to make dang sure that if the opportunity presents itself, that I’m also passing on that knowledge and that wisdom, especially to the females on the up-and-up right now,” she shared.
Wilson’s career has been nothing short of a whirlwind, with few women in country music having experienced as much as she has so far. She’s been fortunate enough to receive advice from country pioneers, including Dolly Parton, who once told her, “Make dang sure I am passionate about every single thing that I do; even if it means I am doing a million things, it means that I have to love every single one of them.”
The 2024 ACM Entertainer of the Year, Lainey Wilson, shared her excitement about watching the careers of her friends, Megan Moroney and Ella Langley, take off. “I’m buddies with Megan Moroney and Ella Langley, and to watch their stars just soaring, it’s really, really cool to see,” Wilson said. “At times, I wanna just pour out as much as I possibly can to them and be like, ‘Don’t you miss this moment,’ you know?”
Her advice to them is simple yet powerful: “Keep your head down and work hard, but also… acknowledge that their hard work has gotten them to this point… and not letting the voices of the world get them down.”
Wilson also reflected on advice she received from Miranda Lambert, which has stuck with her throughout her career. “Put your feet in the dirt and saddle your horses, and scoop the horse s–t in order to stay grounded,” Lambert once told her. Wilson has also mentioned that Lambert often reminds her to take care of herself, saying, “If it’s not fed and watered and taken care of, the rest of the team loses.”
All three artists will be in the spotlight at the 60th ACM Awards on May 8. Moroney is nominated for Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, Langley leads with eight nominations, and Wilson is once again up for Entertainer of the Year. It’s shaping up to be an exciting night for them all!
