Kelsea Ballerini is ready to take some time to relax.

During a May 29 appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Friends, the “Blindsided” singer shared her plans after finishing her Kelsea Ballerini Live on Tour and completing her first season as a coach on The Voice.

“I need a break!” said Ballerini, 31.

She added, “I’ve never really been able to say that before, but I think it’s time for me to slow down, figure out what’s next, enjoy a summer, maybe hit the beach, learn to cook a new meal, and hang out with my dogs—that’s kind of my plan.”

Though she hopes for downtime, Ballerini noted, “Every time I say I have time off, something always comes up.”

Still, she remains open to whatever opportunities arise.

When asked about returning to The Voice, the “Peter Pan” singer said, “Never say never.”

Reflecting on her first arena tour and debut season on The Voice, she said, “It’s been such a beautiful season, pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, doing things bigger than ever before. I really love being in that seat.”

Ballerini wrapped up her North American tour on April 13 at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, after kicking off on January 21 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The tour supported her latest album Patterns, released in October 2024, with a deluxe edition featuring five new tracks arriving in March.

Touring arenas has long been a goal for Ballerini. “There aren’t many women in country music who have made that leap to arenas,” she told PEOPLE. “I had to do it right because I couldn’t afford to fail—not just for myself but to contribute to the history of women in country music.”

She also described Patterns as a deeply personal project born from self-exploration.
