The CMT Awards host opted for a gold unitard, sans additional clothing, during her performance of “Love Me Like You Mean It.”

Kelsea Ballerini isn’t holding back against her critics.

During the CMT Awards on Sunday, April 7, the 30-year-old country singer, hosting the event solo for the first time since 2021, showcased nine different outfits, pulling out all the style stops.

For her performance of a reimagined version of “Love Me Like You Mean It,” Ballerini rocked a gold bodysuit paired with tights and sky-high heels. (Despite being pre-taped at the University of Texas Tower a few days prior, her ’80s disco glam still made a statement as one of her standout looks of the night!)

Clearly embracing her pants-less moment, Ballerini found joy in the ensemble, but it seems not everyone shared her sentiment. On Monday, April 8, she took to TikTok to address the online backlash surrounding her performance.

While getting her glam touched up backstage, Ballerini begins the video by addressing a few of the comments she came across regarding her outfit, including one that said, “You forgot your pants during your performance.” Her swift response: “Shut up. No I didn’t.”

Confident in her choice, Ballerini embraced her ensemble with pride, concluding the video by stating, “It looked hot. Period. Bye.”

Her fans rallied behind her in the comments section, with one writing, “Your outfits were on POINT boo!”

Among Ballerini’s impressive array of outfits was a stunning red dress by David Koma, worn on the carpet as she was accompanied by her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, who donned a cream blazer paired with black trousers.

Once inside the Moody Center, she kicked off the show in a chainmail slip dress layered over a black bra and high-waisted briefs, complemented by bedazzled see-through heels. She even resurrected her Barbie cowgirl costume for the occasion, originally inspired by Margot Robbie’s character in the Greta Gerwig film. Ballerini debuted this iconic ensemble at her Halloween performance with The Donut Shop last October.

Ballerini revealed at the conclusion of the show that this year’s CMT Awards would be her final hosting stint. However, she holds cherished memories of both her time on stage and behind the scenes.

“There’s a special vibe to this show, almost like a summer party,” Ballerini shared with PEOPLE prior to the event. “Backstage, everyone is toasting each other and popping into each other’s dressing rooms. That’s the atmosphere I aim to bring on screen and throughout the venue.”
