Jelly Roll is embracing a bold new look!

The Grammy-nominated artist recently teamed up with Zevia for a fresh commercial — and he surprised fans by rocking an unexpected outfit: Daisy Dukes!

On Monday, March 10, Zevia released its latest ad, which humorously plays on typical commercial tropes.

The ad opens with Jelly Roll pulling up to a rest stop in a bright red pickup truck. The setting includes a gas station, motel, and diner. As he steps out of the truck, two young boys look on as he confidently flaunts his Daisy Dukes and cut-off flannel, running his fingers through his mullet.

As the boys stare in awe and Linda Lyndell’s “Whatta Man” plays in the background, Jelly Roll confidently strolls over to the Zevia fridge and grabs a can of Creamy Root Beer.

One of the boys remarks, “Jelly Roll in a Zevia commercial? This is major. By featuring him as their spokesperson for zero-sugar soda with no artificial ingredients, Zevia is challenging the outdated idea that ‘real men’ can’t be mindful of what they consume. Mr. Roll is now, quite literally, the face of sweet authenticity.”

“What?” the other boy responds, baffled by his friend’s commentary.

The ad then cuts to Jelly Roll smiling directly at the camera, proudly holding his Creamy Root Beer.

The musician, who shared that Creamy Root Beer is his favorite flavor, told PEOPLE that his own experiences inspired him to support the message that men should be conscious of their diet and lifestyle choices.

“I believe being transparent about that decision — along with the ongoing effort and occasional setbacks — has helped people realize they’re not alone if they’re facing similar struggles. That’s why I felt it was important to be open about my health journey,” he explained.

He also shared that his decision to embrace this lifestyle came within the past year. He credits this change to “partly age and partly just being at this stage in my life,” which includes managing the demands of life on the road and a busy schedule.

“Looking at my family and knowing I want to be around as long as possible made me realize I had to make a choice — and continually commit to that choice — when it comes to what I consume, both physically and mentally,” he explained.

“Finding options that support that goal was important to me, and taking the time to evaluate what’s in the things I’m putting into my body has been a game changer,” he added.
