Dan + Shay are eagerly preparing for the release of their latest studio album, scheduled to launch on September 15. Throughout the creative process, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney have been candid about their personal and emotional journey, believing that this album represents their most powerful and compelling work as a duo.
Dan Smyers played a significant role in co-producing the album, working alongside Scott Hendricks. Meanwhile, his wife, Abby Smyers, has been engrossed in her own project – actively involved in the rescue group Wags & Walks in Nashville. The couple shares a deep commitment to rescuing dogs, and their home is a sanctuary for several of these beloved animals.
This weekend, Wags & Walks is reaching a milestone by opening a rescue facility in Nashville, thanks to the dedication and efforts of individuals like Abby Smyers. In a heartwarming gesture of support, Dan and Abby sponsored a room at the facility, providing a space for potential adopters to spend time with the animals and find their perfect furry companion.
“My heart is overflowing with joy as I share this news: The @wagsandwalksnashville Adoption Center is officially opening this weekend, and we had the privilege of giving a sneak peek to some incredible donors, sponsors, and friends last week!” Abby, who is actively involved in the rescue’s development committee, expressed on social media. She continued, “I couldn’t be prouder of @kathrynhurley_ and the amazing Wags team for achieving this milestone and the positive impact this special place will have on our community.”
Accompanied by a picture of herself and Smyers happily embracing in a room adorned with mint green walls and a mural featuring their beloved pups, Abby shared her gratitude for everyone who supported this cause. The glass door of the room reads “sponsored by Dan & Abby Smyers,” and a basket of toys awaits the furry inhabitants. The love and support from their friends, including Tyler Hubbard’s wife, Hayley, who is seen cuddling a white puppy with a black patch over its eye while her son stands nearby, has been heartwarming.
“Thank you to all who believed in this mission and this space,” Abby expressed. “We are determined to save all the dogs! 🩵🐶 Dan and I are incredibly proud to have sponsored a part of the center and to have our cherished pets honored in a place where so many pups will find their forever families.”

On Friday, Abby shared videos in her stories, showing the Wags & Walks team rescuing dogs from animal shelters and bringing them to the new facility to find loving homes. “We saved eight dogs on Tuesday,” she shared. “This new facility has already enabled us to increase our impact.”
