Over the weekend, Craig Morgan, who has been involved with the military for a significant part of his adult life, reaffirmed his commitment to the U.S. Armed Forces. During a sold-out show at the Grand Ole Opry House, he surprised the audience by enlisting with the U.S. Army Reserve and taking the oath on stage.
In a statement, Morgan expressed his excitement to serve his country once again and to be the best he can be, hoping to inspire others to be part of something larger than themselves. Craig Morgan’s military background is extensive, as he spent a total of 17 years in the Army and Army Reserve, serving with prestigious divisions such as the 101st and 82nd Airborne. During his service, he held the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant and worked as a Fire Support Specialist. Additionally, he acquired various certifications, including Airborne, Air Assault, and Rappel Master.
By reenlisting, Craig Morgan has become an active-duty soldier in the Army Reserve. He now holds the positions of Staff Sergeant and Warrant Officer candidate. Remarkably, he will continue pursuing his music career, touring, and releasing new music while concurrently serving the United States.
General Andrew Poppas, Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command, officiated Morgan’s ceremony and spoke highly of the honor and life-changing impact that service in the U.S. Army brings to individuals. He expressed his anticipation to witness Morgan’s achievements and the positive influence he will have on other soldiers throughout the Army.
Craig Morgan will be stationed at Redstone Arsenal, AL, as part of his new assignment in the Army Reserve. Throughout his previous Army career, he received several prestigious accolades, including the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal and the USO Merit Award. Additionally, he is recognized as a member of the U.S. Field Artillery Hall of Fame, showcasing his exceptional achievements in his military service.
Fans had the opportunity to witness Morgan’s physical fitness and survival skills when he appeared on the reality show “Beyond The Edge” alongside other celebrities like Lauren Alaina, Colton Underwood, and Jodie Sweetin. The CBS series challenged participants to endure harsh conditions in the Panamanian jungle. Morgan attributed his military background to helping him cope with the demands of the show.
Despite his renewed commitment to the military, Morgan remains dedicated to his music career. He has revived his “God, Family, Country Tour 2023,” which is set to kick off in September. The tour will begin in the Northeast and then move southward to visit states such as Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
