“My most important piece of advice is to pay attention to your body and advocate for yourself…”

Carly Pearce recently provided an update on her health, discussing her experience with pericarditis, a heart condition she was diagnosed with in 2020 but only made public in 2024.

During an interview with Fox News, the “Truck On Fire” singer shared insights into how she’s coping with the condition and prioritizing her long-term health. Per the Mayo Clinic, pericarditis involves inflammation and irritation of the tissue surrounding the heart, with chest pain being the most common symptom of this usually mild condition.

At 34, Carly Pearce shared with the publication that she is “doing a lot better” and remains focused on her health journey.

“I’m still kind of on a health journey overall, hoping that this recurring pericarditis doesn’t return,” she explained.

The Kentucky native also urged others to listen to their bodies and advocate for themselves when interacting with healthcare professionals.

“My biggest piece of advice for anybody is: Listen to your body and be your own advocate because many doctors dismissed me, and I was persistent until I got a diagnosis,” she said.

Earlier this year, Pearce opened up about her symptoms in an interview with TODAY, admitting that at times they were “debilitating.”

“I had really severe chest pain that only subsided when I bent over like this (leaning forward), which is a classic symptom of pericarditis,” she recalled. “And when I laid back, it got worse, because that wall around the heart was inflamed.”

She also described experiencing “shortness of breath.”

These days, Pearce is in a better place and is collaborating with the American Heart Association to raise awareness about pericarditis.

“I’m doing better. I’m healthy, and I’m working on finding my new normal,” Carly Pearce shared.

Though she publicly revealed her diagnosis in 2024, Pearce has actually been managing pericarditis since 2020 and has experienced “several flares” since then.

“With my busy schedule, I’ve learned to maintain balance—maybe not pushing myself to the max all the time or opting to walk on days when I’m not feeling my best. I try to find ways to keep both my mind and body calm,” she explained. “You only get one heart.”

Currently, Pearce is on her Hummingbird World Tour, which is set to visit Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Knoxville, Tennessee, this week. The tour will continue through May, with the final performances at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

This summer, Pearce will also join artists like Cody Johnson and Little Big Town for upcoming performances.

Carly Pearce recently dropped Hummingbird: No Rain, No Flowers, a deluxe edition of her highly praised fourth studio album. The release features five brand-new tracks.

“What I hope fans take away from this chapter of my story is that you can endure tough times and come out stronger, and that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel,” she said about the deluxe album. “Performing these new songs live on tour has shown me that we’re all facing similar challenges in life, and we all need to experience the sunshine after the storm.”
