Pearce joked that by the end of filming with Green, she had finished an entire bottle of champagne, which helped calm her nerves and made the experience feel a lot more comfortable.
Country singer Carly Pearce recently shared what it was like filming an intimate music video alongside fellow artist Riley Green.
The pair collaborated on the heartfelt duet “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay,” released in March, along with a music video portraying them as a couple struggling to let go of each other. During an interview with Absolute Country Radio, Pearce spoke candidly about feeling nervous while shooting the romantic scenes with Green.
Joking about the opportunity, Pearce said that if anyone had to star in a steamy video with Riley Green, she was willing to “make the sacrifice.” She then opened up about how uncomfortable things felt at first while filming.
According to Pearce, one of the first scenes required the two singers to stand extremely close while singing directly to one another. Although she and Green were already friends, she admitted the situation still felt strange because their relationship had never been romantic.
She recalled how awkward the moment became, especially since filming started in the middle of the day without much buildup. Pearce joked that she immediately asked for champagne to calm her nerves before continuing.
The singer explained that both she and Green felt uncomfortable for the first half-minute, wondering how they would get through the scenes naturally. She even laughed about noticing Green’s famous mustache brushing against her face during filming.
Despite the initial tension, Pearce said things quickly became easier and more relaxed as filming continued. By the end of the day, she admitted she had finished an entire bottle of champagne, which definitely helped her feel more at ease. She added that there were only a couple of moments when they completely broke character from laughing.
Pearce also shared that she knew the video would capture fans’ attention the moment Riley Green appeared beside her on screen.
Since its release, the music video for “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” has earned more than 1.2 million views. The duet has also climbed into the top 40 on both Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and the Hot Country Songs chart.
