Trisha Yearwood Honors Garth Brooks as He Receives ‘Artist of a Lifetime’ Recognition

Brooks has become the first artist to achieve 10 RIAA Diamond-certified albums.
Trisha Yearwood was on hand to celebrate a major achievement in her husband Garth Brooks’ career.
The longtime couple, who marked their 20th wedding anniversary in December, attended a Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) ceremony honoring Brooks with the organization’s first-ever “Artist of a Lifetime” award. The 64-year-old country star also holds the distinction of being the only artist in history to have 10 Diamond-certified albums.
During the event, the pair viewed Brooks’ newly unveiled display of his 10 RIAA Diamond plaques at the organization’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. Yearwood, 60, wore a floral dress as she posed alongside her husband in front of the commemorative collection.
Brooks addressed guests at the ceremony, expressing gratitude for the recognition and reflecting on his career. He spoke about appreciation as a key source of happiness and said he feels thankful every day for the opportunities he has been given.
He also recalled early advice he received, noting that while many artists are given a chance in the industry, the real challenge lies in maintaining success over time. He added that he feels deeply grateful to God and to those who have supported his journey.
To mark the occasion, Brooks also performed a special acoustic set featuring a mix of his own hits and songs that have influenced him. The set included renditions of James Taylor’s “Carolina in My Mind” and “Fire and Rain,” blended with his own “The River,” as well as Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page.”
He closed the performance with George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning,” transitioning into his signature hit “Friends in Low Places,” which prompted the audience to sing and dance along.
