Tim McGraw Delights Young Fan With a Guitar During Heartwarming Onstage Surprise

After learning that the young fan was a big Luke Combs admirer, McGraw tapped into his friendship with the country star to inspire the boy to pick up the guitar and start learning.
Tim McGraw has turned giving away a guitar to a young fan into a special tradition during his 2026 Pawn Shop Guitar Tour. At a recent concert, he surprised a boy named Finn with the instrument, creating a memorable moment that left both the audience and McGraw touched.
For each tour stop, McGraw and his crew visit a local pawn shop and select a guitar to give away. McGraw personally signs the instrument before presenting it to a child in the crowd, with the goal of encouraging young music lovers to pick up an instrument and develop a passion for playing.
After this week’s show, McGraw shared footage of his interaction with Finn on social media. The young fan was invited toward the stage and given an opportunity to chat with the country star. Finn initially seemed a little shy, but McGraw helped him relax by handing him the microphone and telling him he could sing, talk or simply do whatever felt comfortable.
Finn quickly found his confidence, launching into a few lines from McGraw’s 1997 hit, “Where The Green Grass Grows.” His unexpected performance earned a loud reaction from the crowd as concertgoers cheered him on.
But before receiving his new guitar, Finn revealed something that immediately caught McGraw’s attention.
“I know you are best friend with Luke Combs,” the young fan told him.
McGraw smiled and replied, “He’s awesome. I love Luke Combs.”
Once McGraw discovered that Finn was a major Luke Combs fan, he found the perfect way to encourage him to start learning the instrument. He asked Finn to imagine that Combs himself was speaking to him and asking him to promise that he would learn guitar.
“So if this was Luke talking to you and he asked you if you promised to learn the guitar, would you say yes?” McGraw asked.
Finn confidently answered, “yes.”
McGraw then placed the guitar in his hands and said, “Here you go. And thank you to Luke Combs for getting this guy to play this guitar. Have fun, Finn.”
Combs also appeared to love the moment. He joined the conversation in the comments section, enthusiastically writing, “HELL YEAH!!!!”
