Riley Green Reflects on Delayed Fame, Says Becoming a Star in His 30s Was the Right Timing

Green believes it “would have been ugly” if he had achieved major fame earlier in life.

Riley Green is thankful that fame didn’t come to him until later in life.

“I think if I had experienced any kind of success like this in my early 20s, it would have been ugly,” the 37-year-old Worst Way singer shared on the Like a Farmer podcast in December.

Green explained that maturing with age helped him handle the pressures of fame more easily. “You get a bit more perspective and can step back from things as you get older,” he said. “I was lucky that my success came gradually.”

Reflecting on his rise, he added, “It keeps hitting a different level and a different gear.”

When it comes to online gossip, Green admitted that much of it is so “outlandish” that it no longer bothers him.

On a previous appearance on Westwood One’s Country Nights with Bev Rainey, he discussed how social media has made his personal life public. “I find out who I’m dating weekly on social media,” he said.

Green explained that fans often crave the kind of legendary country romances seen in pairs like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill or Johnny and June Cash. “Some of the things I read online are so over the top, but it keeps me humble,” he noted.

He also addressed speculation about his relationship with Ella Langley, 26, his collaborator on 2024’s duets You Look Like You Love Me and Don’t Mind If I Do. “We have two big songs together, and I think fans naturally assume there’s something more,” Green said. Langley previously clarified to Taste of Country in September 2024, “We’re not dating. We’re just good friends.”
