Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson performed “Fancy” at Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s wedding for so long that it ended up delaying the shuttle buses.

Brandi Carlile shared that the two continued singing karaoke together after the 2011 party had already ended.

On a recent episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, Brandi Carlile shared that Clarkson and McEntire were especially enthusiastic about singing together at Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s 2011 wedding, enjoying the moment so much that they didn’t want it to end.

Carlile, now 44, said she was present at the Texas wedding, where she performed her song “The Story” as the couple walked down the aisle. Once the formalities were over, the celebration continued with karaoke and drinks—and that’s when Clarkson and McEntire really took over.

According to Carlile, the pair got on stage together and simply refused to leave, even as the night wound down and guests prepared to head back to their hotels by shuttle. She recalled that the entire bus ended up waiting because McEntire was still performing.

From the bus, Carlile said she could hear McEntire, 71, singing “Fancy” while Clarkson, also 44, provided harmonies in the background.

She joked that the two “were exactly as amazing as people imagine,” adding that their energy and talent exceeded expectations.

Although Lambert and Shelton ended their marriage in 2015, their wedding took place in May 2011—around a year before Clarkson began dating Brandon Blackstock, McEntire’s former stepson. Clarkson and Blackstock later married and were together for nearly seven years before separating in 2020; he passed away the following year. Clarkson and McEntire have remained close over the years.

In 2018, Clarkson even performed “Fancy” in McEntire’s honor during the Kennedy Center Honors. At the event, she spoke warmly about McEntire, saying she had admired her since childhood and describing her voice as deeply comforting and timeless. She also reflected on how meeting McEntire turned into a lasting friendship and family connection, calling it one of the most meaningful parts of her life.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Carlile also praised Clarkson’s singing ability, joking that she’s an “actual freak” because of how powerful her voice is.
