Parker McCollum Strips It Back on ‘Live From Sound City’

By Wade Carter

Parker McCollum is giving fans a quieter seat closer to the songs.

According to MusicRow, McCollum has released a new acoustic album, Live From Sound City, through MCA. The project revisits 15 songs from his catalog in stripped-back acoustic form.

That kind of release can be a good reminder that a country song does not always need a big arrangement to land. Sometimes a guitar, a voice and a little breathing room will tell you exactly what the song is made of. Fancy production is nice, but so is hearing the floorboards creak a little, metaphorically speaking.

Familiar songs, different light

The track list includes acoustic versions of “One Less Mouth,” “Handle On You,” “To Be Loved By You,” “Diamonds and Gasoline” and “Jet Plane to GA,” according to MusicRow.

For longtime McCollum fans, that makes Live From Sound City less of a brand-new chapter and more of a fresh pass through songs they already know. Acoustic projects often have a way of pulling different lines to the front. A lyric that may have blended into a full-band chorus can suddenly sit right there in the room.

That matters with an artist like McCollum, whose catalog has already built a strong connection with listeners. These acoustic versions give fans another way to hear the songs, whether they have followed him for years or are just getting caught up.

A busy stretch for McCollum

The release also arrives during a big season for McCollum. MusicRow identifies him as a 2026 CMA Award Album of the Year nominee, another sign that his work continues to be part of the larger country conversation.

He is also scheduled to make his first trip to the UK and Ireland later in October 2026, supporting Cody Johnson. That is a notable step for an artist taking Texas-rooted country music to new crowds overseas. Country music does tend to travel better than people expect, even if the luggage situation is probably still a headache.

After that, McCollum is set to join Koe Wetzel for the return of the “Naughty or Nice Tour” in December 2026, according to MusicRow.

What fans get from it

For fans, Live From Sound City looks like a chance to slow down with songs that have already found their place in McCollum’s catalog. It is not about replacing the originals. It is about hearing them from another angle.

And around northern Nevada, that is the kind of country listening that fits just fine on Big Country 103.9.
