Lambert, whose album Postcards from Texas releases Friday, told Apple Music Country that being a musician allows her to “chase my dream while still having a piece of home.”
Miranda Lambert values the freedom to run in her life.
In a recent interview for Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen on Apple Music Country, Lambert discussed her connection to the song “Run” from her upcoming tenth album, Postcards from Texas. The 40-year-old country star revealed that her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, encouraged her to record this song, along with several other “vulnerable and raw” tracks on the album. She shared that she feels a sense of being able to run, both literally and metaphorically, in her life.
“I think the reason I love horses, Airstreams, and the bus is that they offer a way to run towards something, not just away from something,” she explained. “But they also provide a way to escape if needed.”
The “Wranglers” singer added, “I think that’s why I’ve always been fascinated with trailers. I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up on a tour bus or what, but I feel like I can pursue my dreams while still having a piece of home. It’s part of my gypsy lifestyle, and that’s what I love about it.”
During the conversation, Lambert also mentioned that she initially struggled to connect with the song “Run.” “I wasn’t ever ready to perform it until now,” she said.
“That’s what songs are for,” added the Grammy winner. “You might not be ready to sing about something really raw or personal, like alimony, at a given time. You could be going through a divorce or something similar. It might not feel funny or it might seem too raw, but eventually, it can come back around. It’s also an admission of human error.”
“It’s an apology,” Lambert said. “But it’s also a resolve.”
Postcards from Texas releases on September 13. The album includes a collaboration with Parker McCollum and features the lead single “Wranglers,” along with promotional tracks “Dammit Randy” and “No Man’s Land.”
