During her recent performance in Miami, Miranda Lambert paid tribute to a bandmate’s late father in a heartfelt way.
The 41-year-old country star took the stage on Friday, July 11, as an opener for Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem Tour at Hard Rock Stadium. That night, Lambert wore a special accessory with deep personal meaning — a belt that had belonged to her longtime background vocalist and friend, Gwen Sebastian’s late father, Gerald.
Sharing the moment on Instagram two days later, Lambert wrote, “My friend and background vocalist @gwensebastian recently lost her dad. Last night I forgot to bring a belt, and she happened to pack an extra — it was her father’s, with his name on it.”
She continued, “What an honor it was to wear that in Miami,” alongside photos of her on stage and a close-up of the brown leather belt, complete with a large buckle and the name “Gerald” engraved on the back. Lambert added, “Love you, Gwennie!!”
Sebastian, 51, responded in the comments, writing, “He was up there pickin’ and singing along. Love you my friend.”
According to his obituary, Gerald passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 76. He was remembered as a devoted family man and a beloved member of his community, known for his strong faith, kindness, and adventurous spirit.
Lambert continues touring with Wallen, with their next show scheduled for Friday, July 18, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
In addition to her tour performances, Lambert is also using her platform to help those affected by the recent catastrophic floods in Texas. On July 5, she shared a video message on Instagram expressing her heartbreak over the devastation in southern and central parts of the state.
“I’m at a loss for words about the suffering people are going through,” she said. “MuttNation Foundation is actively working with Kerrville Pets Alive to assess the situation and support pet owners and rescues affected by the disaster.”
Lambert promised to keep fans updated as recovery efforts progress and encouraged them to get involved. “Please join us in helping however you can and keep the prayers coming,” she said.
