Kenny Chesney Isn’t Slowing Down Anytime Soon: ‘I Already Know My Plans for 2027’

The Country Music Hall of Famer has no intentions of taking a break anytime soon.
At 57, Kenny Chesney has already secured his place in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but retirement is the last thing on his mind. While some artists his age are taking time to slow down, Chesney is still charging full speed ahead.
“I love creating — it’s what I’ve always done — so I don’t see myself slowing down anytime soon,” he told PEOPLE in a recent interview. “My life is already mapped out. I know what I’m doing in 2027!”
The East Tennessee native has a packed schedule ahead. His first-ever book, Heart Life Music, is due out November 4, and he’s also gearing up for a return to the Sphere in Las Vegas next summer. Still, it’s performing live that fuels him most.
“I know it sounds crazy, but being on stage in front of 60,000 people is where I feel most at home,” Chesney said. “When we’re up there for two hours, no one can touch that moment — it’s just us and the crowd, giving everything we have to each other.”
He described the rush of performing as “one of the most incredible feelings” of his life, adding, “It’s my drug of choice. I don’t regret dedicating my whole adult life to making music — what a way to live.”
An eight-time Entertainer of the Year, Chesney has spent more than two decades selling out stadiums across America, performing for over a million fans every summer since 2002. His connection to his audience remains as strong as ever.
“I love what I do. I love making music,” he said. “And I love being on that stage more than anywhere else in the world.”
Next up, Chesney will bring that same passion to a new adventure — his upcoming book tour, which kicks off this weekend. Stops in Boston, Key West, and Tampa have already sold out.
And he’s already looking beyond that: in 2026, Chesney will make his return to Las Vegas for another round of shows — with tickets already available.
