Kenny Chesney said that, judging by radio response to his new single “Carry On,” he isn’t the only one seeking empowerment, inspiration, and uplifting music.

After going two years without new music, Kenny Chesney has returned with a milestone release—and is already making country radio history.

His new single, “Carry On,” is his first release under his independent label HEY NOW Records. The track received an unprecedented response at country radio, becoming the biggest add day of Chesney’s career and achieving the rare feat of being added by all 158 reporting stations during its first week. Only a handful of songs in Mediabase history have ever achieved that level of universal debut-week support.

The strong response places “Carry On” alongside past rare industry moments, including similar full-panel adds previously achieved by artists like Garth Brooks and, more recently, Post Malone and Morgan Wallen.

Chesney said the reaction reflects the song’s uplifting message, noting that he believes many listeners are also looking for music that inspires and energizes them. He described the track as centered on living in the moment and not overcomplicating life’s choices, emphasizing a “if it feels good, do it” mindset.

Written by Chase McGill, Matt Jenkins, and Jessi Alexander, the song opens with a scene in Key West, Florida, where a chance conversation at a bar leads into reflections on enjoying life fully and avoiding regret.

Chesney said the track immediately resonated with him because of its vivid imagery and positive tone, adding that he wanted a song that would make listeners feel free, happy, and present despite the pressures of modern life.

With its breezy production and feel-good energy, “Carry On” is being positioned as a strong contender for one of Chesney’s signature summer anthems.
