4-Year-Old Amelia Captures Lainey Wilson’s Heart With Adorable Viral Rendition of “Somewhere Over Laredo”

Little Amelia went all out for her performance — complete with bell bottoms and a country-chic outfit that perfectly matched Lainey Wilson’s signature style.
Hailing from the small town of Viburnum, Missouri — home to just about 600 residents — four-year-old Amelia has recently captured hearts online after her remarkable rendition of Lainey Wilson’s “Somewhere Over Laredo” at the community’s annual Tiny Tot Pageant, an event for preschoolers to showcase their talents.
According to her mother, Averie, the pageant is held every year during the local fall festival. At last year’s event, Amelia earned the top spot by astonishing the crowd with a bow-and-arrow routine, hitting a mock deer target. This year, she returned not to compete, but to pass on her crown and share a new passion — singing.
Although it was Amelia’s first time performing vocally in front of an audience, her poise and enthusiasm were undeniable as she sang the dreamy mid-tempo song, which nods to the beloved classic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
“She told us she wasn’t nervous at all! We were beyond proud of how brave she was,” Averie told Country Now.
Singing isn’t entirely new to Amelia. A longtime admirer of Lainey Wilson, she was thrilled to perform one of the Louisiana-born artist’s songs. Her mom shared that Amelia has been humming along to music since she was barely a year old.
“She picks up lyrics so fast — sometimes after hearing a song just once! She already knows every word from Lainey’s Whirlwind album,” Averie added.
To top off her performance, Amelia fully embraced Wilson’s signature look. She donned pink bell-bottom pants, a cowboy hat, a Lainey Wilson T-shirt, a western-style belt, and a fringe vest — creating the perfect mini version of her idol.
“She picked the song herself,” her mom explained. “She says Lainey has blonde hair like her, rides horses like her, and she wants to be just like her when she grows up. So of course, we got her the whole outfit! She’s the biggest Lainey fan!”
A video of Amelia’s performance was posted on TikTok, where it quickly went viral — surpassing 100,000 views and attracting hundreds of supportive comments. Even Lainey Wilson noticed, commenting “Superstar!! Killlllllled it sister” before resharing the video on her own Instagram story so even more fans could see the young performer’s talent.
The overwhelming support from both fans and Wilson herself has been an unforgettable experience for Amelia and her family.
“We were completely blown away by all the love — the views, the likes, the comments,” Averie said. “When Lainey commented, we almost cried! Then when she reposted it… we were literally shaking with excitement. When I told Millie, she said, ‘Mom, you mean the real Lainey Wilson?!’ It was hilarious — and so surreal.”
At just four years old, Amelia doesn’t fully grasp what fame means yet, her mom admitted. “She’s still figuring out that being famous means you’re on TV, like Lainey Wilson!”
Adding to the excitement, Averie revealed that on Thursday, October 16, Amelia will attend her very first concert — to see Lainey Wilson live in St. Louis, Missouri.
“A friend of mine got us six general admission tickets,” Averie shared. “We’ll be there, and I cannot wait to see her reaction and watch her take it all in!”
The concert will take place at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, one of the stops on Lainey Wilson’s ongoing Whirlwind Tour.
