Beyoncé has officially added “Emmy Award winner” to her long list of achievements.
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, the Television Academy revealed that the 43-year-old superstar earned a Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming category for the outfits featured in her Netflix Christmas Game Day halftime performance — better known as the “Beyoncé Bowl.”
Her win was shared with costume designer Shiona Turini, assistant designers Erica Rice and Molly Peters, costume supervisor Chelsea Staebell, and head of workroom Timothy White, according to Deadline.
The award was part of the first round of winners for the 77th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, covering the Animation, Costume, Emerging Media Programming, and Motion Design categories. The juried prizes will be officially presented on Sept. 6 and 7 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, one week ahead of the Primetime Emmy ceremony.
Beyoncé’s Emmy run may not be over yet — she’s still in the running for two additional trophies: Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special (alongside Alex Rudzinski) and Outstanding Variety Special (Live), where she’ll compete against her husband, Jay-Z.
Jay-Z, 55, is nominated for his role in producing the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show starring Kendrick Lamar. Through Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL, he plays a key role in selecting the halftime performer — and could soon receive Emmy recognition for it.
The “Beyoncé Bowl” took place on Dec. 25, when the Baltimore Ravens faced the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in her hometown of Houston. The performance marked her first time singing tracks from her Grammy-winning Cowboy Carter album live, including “Blackbiird,” “16 Carriages,” and “Ya Ya.”
Fans were treated to surprise appearances from Post Malone for “Levii’s Jeans” and Shaboozey for “Sweet Honey Buckiin’.” Her daughter, Blue Ivy, also joined her on the field for the finale, “Texas Hold ’Em.”
